Illustrious Potentate
James Burton
The Illustrious Potentate serves as the presiding leader of Tripoli Shriners, representing the organization publicly and guiding its broader direction.
The leadership of Tripoli Shriners includes the elected Divan officers and trustees who help guide the fraternity, support its operations, strengthen its public presence, and steward its charitable and institutional mission in Milwaukee and across Wisconsin.
Tripoli’s officers help sustain the fraternity through ceremonial leadership, administration, finance, communications, and long-range stewardship. Together, these officers support the daily life of the shrine while preserving its traditions and keeping the organization connected to its broader mission.
The leadership structure also reflects the distinctive culture of the Shriners, where titles, ritual continuity, public service, and fraternity life all come together in one institution.

The Divan officers form the core leadership team of Tripoli Shriners. These men help guide the fraternity’s operations, maintain its traditions, and provide accessible points of contact for members and the broader Tripoli community.
